Company Background
Prior to being acquired by industrial giant Textron in 1986, Greenlee itself had a long and proud history in the production of industrial tools. The company was founded by Robert and Ralph Greenlee in 1862 on the back of a woodworking invention in Rockford. Through a variety of woodworking tools, the company was able to achieve great success.
After the acquisition of Greenlee by Textrons, they expanded their product range through other companies, Fairmont Hydraulics, Datacom Technologies, and have added electronic equipment and telecommunications to their portfolio.
Their products are sold worldwide and they operate in the electrical, furniture, and agriculture markets. Textron is heavily involved in aerospace and defense, and has a number high-profile firms like Bell Helicopters and Cessna. Employee count is around 35,000.
